I have always wanted to ask people about this and now I have the perfect forum to reach alot of my customers. A big part of my business is providing the average person the ability to own and wear custom quality and affordable pieces of jewellery.
While my jewellery will always be made with the best of my ability and skill, there is the choice of using base metal (silver plated/gold filled), or sterling silver findings. Findings are the pieces of the piece that keep it together ie. the clasp, beads, and decorative metal pieces incorporated into the piece. Sterling silver is .925 pure silver. Bali silver is made by skilled artists in Indonesia using hand tools over an open flame. This silver is higher in content-usually .999 pure silver. The price of the components are higher due to the labour intense process, and are each unique and individual. These are absolutely stunning, and I usually incorporate them into designs that have semi-precious stones.
In the past I have offered two lines- Diva'z featuring sterling silver and semi-precious stones, and Diva'z on a dime line featuring base metal findings.
Sooooo, my question to all of you is what would you rather have incorporated in your jewellery pieces, sterling silver /Bali silver, or base metal findings. Your input is greatly appreciated and will help me in my design process and inventory purchases.
Thanks so much for your time and valued opinion!
